Programs

SummerCollab co-creates youth programs that energize kids to love learning, play wildly and believe in the power of their unique talents. We envision a world filled with imaginative, confident young people who believe in their unique talents, intelligence and unlimited possibility. Our signature programs, Tyler’s Camp, Literacy Corps, and the Community Mentor Network, provide new experiences and rich activities designed to narrow learning gaps in low income communities. We focus on cultivating self-worth, self-discovery, and meaningful human connection. Through these programs, kids learn to be vulnerable, persistent and curious while exploring new experiences. A side effect of this work is improved confidence, academic engagement and performance.

Tyler's Camp

Tyler’s Camp

Tyler’s Camps are SummerCollab’s 4th-5th grade and middle school summer learning programs, which welcome students from diverse backgrounds and interests to engage in exploratory and educational programming. At Tyler’s Camp, we execute inspiring, confidence-building experiences that fuel student motivation and success during the academic school year.

Tyler’s Camp was founded as a place where student choice, voice and self direction are priority. Kids are defined by their interests and each one has their own unique sense of curiosity.

Kids explore their passions, curiosities, and interests, whether it means painting, sculpting, music, performing in a play, dance or athletics.

SummerLabs feature STEM-centered programs that bring hands-on experiences with 21st Century Skills and technologies to campers.

Community Mentor Network

Community Mentor Network

Community Mentor Network (CMN) is a coordinated strategy that provides targeted 1:1 social-emotional learning and mentoring support to low-income students who have experienced unprecedented learning and socio-emotional loss due to Covid. Through this effort, SummerCollab recruits, trains and activates mentor-tutors from local HBCUs and communities in which mentees live.

Through this model, mentor tutors are readily available for free to low-income, fourth-grade through eighth-grade students. 1:1 mentoring augments recreational efforts underway in the community by providing consistent, effective, and personalized learning support and mentorship 4 days a week, 45 minutes-1 hour per day, for up to 6 weeks during the summer. During this school year, mentoring is offered two days a week, 1 hour per day.
