This event remembers and celebrates the life of Tyler Ritchie Brown, a Salesianum School senior who, in March 2016, was tragically killed in a car crash. Tyler was truly a renaissance man–his passions knew no bounds. Whether the athletics, architecture, or volunteerism, Tyler immersed himself in his work, his play, and his relationships.
To honor Tyler’s memory, members of the Salesianum community banded together to raise funds which enabled SummerCollab to found Tyler’s Camp. The Summer Learning Collaborative’s Tyler’s Camp offers Delaware’s low-income middle-school students a chance to explore new ideas and uncover unknown talents. Campers select from a suite of music, technology, sports and arts opportunities, coupled with daily engagement with leadership development, STEAM-based curriculum, and literacy instruction. In 2017, we offered over 250 campers from across Wilmington four weeks of access to extraordinary summer experiences, all free of charge.
