OUR STORY

Tyler’s Camp, SummerCollab’s middle school academy,  offers Delaware’s rising 4th through 8th graders a unique summer experience. Each Tyler’s Camp location targets a wide variety of students by providing arts, hands-on technology, and athletic options, alongside targeted literacy support. With this, students have the opportunity to  see growth in their motivation, self-esteem, critical thinking, leadership and entrepreneurial skills. By planning, designing, and executing high quality programs, the Camp Director has the opportunity to transform social, emotional, and educational outcomes for Delaware’s low-income youth.

 

YOUR ROLE

The Tyler’s Camp Director will serve as the overall manager of the Tyler’s Camp site. As the Director, major responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and managing  the day to day operations of a Tyler’s Camp location
  • Developing and facilitating trainings as part of ongoing development for all staff
  • Observing  staff and providing feedback regularly to ensure high-quality curriculum execution
  • Working closely with the Dean of Students to develop and maintain a positive camp culture for both staff and campers

 

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

Tyler’s Camp seeks  an exceptional leader with a charismatic personality and an unyielding commitment to advocating for Delaware’s youth. The ideal candidate for this role has at least 3 years of leadership or coaching experience and demonstrated success with project or program management. Director candidates are highly organized and maintain effective and proactive communication strategies. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage a team are critical. Camp Director candidates will be flexible, able to prioritize effectively and make quick decisions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

January – May (approximately  12 hours/month)

  • Actively participate in the interview and hiring process of camp staff
  • Develop site specific schedules for leadership, staff, and campers
  • Review and approve courses and necessary materials  submitted by instructors
  • Develop and facilitate trainings for all staff on site specific needs
  • Assist with the recruitment and enrollment of campers
  • Work alongside STRIVE leadership on the development of camp culture
  • Align with community center leaders whose campers will be attending Tyler’s Camp
  • Other duties as assigned

June – August (approximately 35 hours/week)

  • Facilitate pre-approved ongoing professional development for staff
  • Oversee operations management for assigned site
  • Conduct observations and provide feedback regularly in order to ensure high levels of engagement and learning
  • Work closely with the Dean of Students to maintain behavior systems
  • Co-facilitate morning meetings for campers to promote positive camp culture
  • Other duties as assigned
