SummerCollab specializes in empowering community-based agencies to execute high quality summer learning programs.  Through intentional interviewing, quality training and precise placement, our team members are equipped to work with our partner sites to bring more choices and more chances to children in the state of Delaware during the summer months. YOUR ROLE

Collab Instructors are the drivers of SummerCollab’s critical thinking curriculum.  Our curriculum framework aims to stimulate critical thinking skills by way of productive struggle, teaching children how to problem solve through hands-on, project based learning.  Major responsibilities of the Collab Instructor include:

  • Deliver SummerCollab critical thinking curriculum to campers in grades K-5, ensure campers are engaged and learning in a supportive classroom while immersed in meaningful productive struggle
  • Actively participate in feedback and coaching sessions weekly to enhance practices in behavior management and instructional execution
  • Collaborate with classroom Counselor to ensure effective classroom management, smooth transitions and active engagement of campers

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

SummerCollab seeks positive, passionate educators with the desire to motivate campers to learn and grow.  The ideal candidate is proactive, flexible and open to constructive feedback, willing and eager to build upon practices as an educator.  He/she will demonstrate strengths in communication and classroom management, as well as the ability to address classroom challenges quickly and effectively.  Experience working with children is required, and experience working with children in grades K-5 is preferred. The ideal candidate has a growth mindset, a strong belief in student-centered learning, and the drive to help campers become excited about learning!

RESPONSIBILITIES

April – June (approximately 20 hours)

  • Engage in preparatory training which includes trauma-responsive practices, culture building strategies, behavior management techniques and instructional delivery support
  • Attend site-specific onboarding session with site leadership
  • Determine supply system
  • Other duties as assigned

June – August (approximately 25 hours/week)

  • Review curriculum prior to implementation, preparing to address potential learning roadblocks
  • Implement SummerCollab curriculum with fidelity, providing quality instruction to campers daily
  • Differentiate curriculum to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Develop daily routines that build and support a safe, positive classroom culture
  • Take a proactive approach to behavior management in the classroom, maintaining consistent behavior expectations for campers
  • Engage in weekly feedback and coaching sessions with the Program Dean to further instructional practices and behavior management strategies
  • Execute a system for supplies related to curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned
